Environmental Statement

Our Environmental Management Approach

HSF Health Plan recognises its responsibility to manage the environmental impact of its operations in a manner that is responsible, proportionate and aligned with good governance. As a predominantly office‑based organisation, our direct environmental footprint is limited; however, we acknowledge the importance of applying appropriate controls, maintaining oversight, and continually improving how environmental considerations are embedded within our business activities.

Our approach focuses on the effective management of environmental risks and impacts that are relevant to the nature and scale of our operations, supported by practical measures where appropriate. These include a digital‑first objective across key operational processes, such as claims handling, to avoid unnecessary use of paper, and consideration of lower‑emission options, including hybrid vehicles, within our company car arrangements. Together, these measures support sustainable and responsible business practices without overstating our environmental footprint.

Governance and Oversight

Environmental responsibility is embedded within our organisational governance framework and is subject to senior management oversight. Clear ownership is assigned for environmental matters, ensuring accountability for the identification, management and review of environmental risks and controls.

Our approach is supported by an Environmental Improvement and Targets (EIT) Action Plan, which sets out priority actions and improvement initiatives. Progress against the plan is reviewed periodically to ensure environmental considerations remain aligned with organisational objectives and evolving best practice.

Operational Environmental Controls

We apply practical and proportionate environmental controls across our operations, designed to minimise environmental impact while supporting efficient and effective business delivery. These controls include:

These measures are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain suitable, effective and proportionate to our operational footprint.

Continuous Improvement

HSF Health Plan recognises that effective environmental management is an evolving area. We are committed to continuous improvement through the ongoing review of our environmental controls, risks and opportunities.

Our EIT Action Plan provides a structured framework for identifying and prioritising improvement initiatives over time. This enables us to monitor progress, respond to changes in regulatory expectations and good practice, and ensure our environmental approach continues to develop in a controlled and transparent manner.

Proportionate and Responsible Approach

We aim to ensure that our environmental management practices are proportionate to the nature of our activities and reflective of our broader commitment to responsible governance. By maintaining oversight, applying appropriate controls and focusing on continuous improvement, we seek to manage our environmental impact responsibly while supporting the long‑term sustainability of our organisation.
